About Us
At Fairhaven Preschool, we provide a warm, nurturing environment where every child feels safe, valued, and encouraged to grow. Recognizing that this may be your child’s first step outside the home, our compassionate, highly trained team works closely with parents to support a smooth, happy transition into early education.
Through rich play experiences, quality resources, and access to the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum, we empower children to socialize, gain independence, and explore the world at their own pace. As an integral part of our local school community, children enjoy shared primary school events while building the confidence and skills needed for a seamless transition to Reception—whichever primary school they choose next.

Curriculum
The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) is a statutory curriculum for all children between birth to age 5. This is a very important stage in your child’s life which helps them to prepare for their future learning and development.
AREAS OF LEARNING
The EYFS Framework explains how and what your child will be learning to support their healthy development. We know that young children do not develop in a fixed way. Young children’s learning is often driven by their interests and unique needs. We ensure that our curriculum is flexible and fully tailored to your child so that they develop and learn in the best possible way.
Your child will be learning skills, acquiring new knowledge and demonstrating their understanding through 7 areas of learning and development.
Children should mostly develop the 3 prime areas first.
These are:

These prime areas are those most essential for your child’s healthy development and future learning.
As children grow, the prime areas will help them to develop skills in 4 specific areas.
These are:

Expressive arts and design
These 7 areas are used to plan your child’s learning and activities.
Children in the EYFS learn by playing and exploring, being active, and through creative and critical thinking which takes place both indoors and outside.
Our Safeguarding Responsibilities
To promote positive outcomes for all children, Early Years and childcare settings are committed to building open and supportive
professional relationships with families.
Everyone working with children has a ‘duty of care’ to keep children safe and protect them from harm. This means that adults have a duty to report any child protection or welfare concerns to Children’s Services/the police.
Fairhaven Pre-school’s Safeguarding Lead Practitioner (SLP) (also known as DSL (Designated Safeguarding Lead) is Gemma Bloom. She will be happy to answer any questions you have about her responsibilities and what it means for you, your child and the setting.
In her absence the Deputy Safeguarding Lead Practitioner (DSL) is Vikki Chaney.
